OMNIFECT® has two major effects:
What is OMNIFECT®?
What are prebiotics and how do they work?
Prebiotics: Non-digestible food ingredients that favorably affect the host by controlling the growth and / or activity that stimulates
deliberately one or more bacterial species housed in the gastrointestinal system,, thus improving the health of the host
In contrast to probiotics, prebiotics are not living microorganisms but certain parts of food that are not digestible, which are not attacked by stomach or digestive juices. Prebiotic fiber and starches can stimulate the healthy intestinal bacteria by serving as their food source. When positive bacteria settle in the intestine, germs and unwanted bacteria can be repelled. At the same time, the immune system is strengthened and digestion promoted.
A healthy intestine is not only important for a good intestinal sensation, but also has a great impact on the immune system. That is why it is essential to keep it healthy. It is important that there are enough healthy intestinal bacteria to break down the food and prepare it for the elimination process.
Problems with the intestinal flora can cause constipation, diarrhea, flatulence or other digestive problems and affect the growth of animals in addition to animal health.
Targeted prebiotic additives enable specific bacterial cultures to be established. The intestinal microorganisms contribute to the energy and vitamin supply because these provide enzymes with which fiber (complex carbohydrates) are degraded. The degradation products are different sugars, but also other high-energy compounds such butyric acid. The intestinal flora also prevents the proliferation of diseased microorganisms in the intestine (diarrhea). In addition, a well-balanced bacterial community may prevent chronic inflammatory and infectious intestine disease – caused for example by E. coli strains.
Connection between bacteria and stress
Stress can affect the stomach and intestine, which many of us have experienced. Australian researchers have been able to show in humans that the amount of “good” intestinal bacteria, is reduced in students during periods of stress caused by exams.
For example, in pigs, stress factors (e.g., weaning, overcrowding, and weakened animals) cause a change in intestinal flora, such as increased excretion of E. coli bacteria in dregs. The combination of intestine and stress also works in the other direction: In laboratory experiments, mice became more anxious, in which antibiotics had changed the intestinal flora, others more courageously, after they had been transplanted certain microbial species. There are observations that a disturbed intestinal flora may negatively affect the behavior of pigs (including cannibalism).
Here is exactly where treatment with OMNIFECT® starts:
We ensure a healthier intestinal flora and a reduction of potentially pathogenic bacteria – from the beginning
Mode of action of OMNIFECT®
The morphological structure of OMNIFECT® products ensures that the body absorbs certain minerals and nutrients more evenly. The optimal supply ensures a high and healthy growth performance of the animal.
OMNIFECT® works in two different ways
The increase of “biological mass” or biota allows for a significantly better utilization of nutrients, proteins and amino acids in the treated animal. Of course, every species has a different way of using these nutrients and metabolizing the feed. In any case, the biota (intestinal flora) is responsible for most of these tasks.
Higher microbial activity of the intestinal biota and a greater capacity of protein synthesis allow lower nitrogen excretion, which in turn has a positive effect on ammonia emissions and hence the environment.
By feeding OMNIFECT® products, the animal can achieve a higher growth performance. A higher synthesis efficiency finally affects the excretion of nitrogen, since more nitrogen (N) in the form of protein remains in the animal. Therefore, a higher protein utilization indirectly provides less N excretion. At a lower concentration of N in the manure, less can be emitted into the atmosphere by converting several compounds of N to ammonia N. Thus, a reduction of ammonia in the air of the barn was detected by up to 40 percent.
